Accidents are common at construction sites

One of the hardest and most dangerous jobs any Pennsylvania resident can take is one in the construction industry. Construction workers are around heavy machinery and tools that can cause injuries; many workers face injury on the job. In many cases, the worker or his or her family are left in the aftermath struggling to make ends meet.

The danger of the construction industry became clear for a worker on a new home construction site in Pine Township. The man was at work in the Pinecrest housing plan when a concrete form weighing 1,000 pounds fell onto him. Witnesses say that the worker was attempting to move the form to another location without using a brace. Other workers rushed to him and were able to move the form off of the him.

After being freed from beneath the 9-foot-tall concrete form, the construction worker, who was conscious, complained of severe leg pain and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His employer has made no comment regarding the man’s injuries or condition.

A construction accident can leave a worker out of the job for many months and may result in exorbitant medical bills that must be paid. Pennsylvania workers who are hurt on the job may choose to contact a workers’ compensation lawyer for a consultation. A lawyer may be able to aid in the pursuit of compensation for medical bills and lost wages from missed work. If the recover of the worker will take a long time, an attorney may also be able to seek sums for the worker’s loss in their quality of life.
