OSHA outlines safety precautions for tree-care workers

Pennsylvania workers may be interested in a recent bulletin issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration outlining safety precautions for workers in the tree-care industry. The bulletin focuses on preventable accidents, especially those involving falls and falling objects.

Scaffolding collapse injures 5 roofers

Authorities said that a scaffolding accident at a warehouse in the Pennsylvania township of East Deer left five workers with injuries. The June 16 workplace incident reportedly occurred at about 9:30 a.m. at a self-storage facility on Treadway Lane, where workers from a roofing company were replacing the facility's roof.

OSHA probes Pennsylvania death at Amazon facility

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently announced that the federal agency has launched a probe into a fatality at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Carlisle. The workplace accident transpired on June 1, when a 52-year-old female employee died while operating a pallet truck inside the Amazon facility.

Injured Pennsylvania worker settles lawsuit for $16.3 million

A construction worker suffered serious injuries on the job when a slab weighing 3,000 pounds fell on him. On May 28, the worker settled his workplace injury lawsuit against the general contractor responsible for the site and three other defendants for $16.3 million.

Burns suffered by employee in Pennsylvania restaurant

On May 5 at around 5:30 p.m., a young female employee was working at a restaurant in the Park Town Shopping Center and was accidentally burnt by hot oil that was somehow spilled on 30 percent of her body, burning her head and other body parts. How the accident occurred is still unknown. The young victim was transported via ambulance and then by medical helicopter at around 5:55 p.m. to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. The following day, she was reported to be in stable condition after undergoing a number of skin graft surgeries.
